Abstract:
Bosnia and Herzegovina, and therefore Republic of Srpska, is one the Parties of the UNECE Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution from 1979. The Convention and its eight protocols requires Parties measures to reduce or ban emissions of substances into the air which has been found to have negativ impact to human health and the environment. One of the obligations arising from the Convention is the preparation of annual inventory report on air pollutants from several sectors, such as energy, transport, industry, agriculture, land use and forest, waste, for each country. This paper gives and analyzes, for the first time, inventory on air pollutants of industrial processes of Republic of Srpska in the period 2003-2013.g. Inventory is compiled using the EMEP/EEA methodology and the official statistics of the Republic of Srpska. Inventory analysis indicate the existence of a permanent upward trend of the mentioned emissions, as a result of growth in industrial production. Considering fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina, so far, has not done a single report on emissions of air pollutants, inventory data and its analysis, presented in this paper, are the first assessments of the situation where the Republic of Srpska is, according to the aforementioned Convention.
