Abstract:
The research focused on testing the electrode material (Fe and Al) in electrocoagulation process of wastewater containing a mixture of organic dyes. The present organic dyes are toxic, cause skin irritation, eye irritation, and are extremely dangerous to aquatic organisms. The study was conducted on a prepared synthetic wastewater in a laboratory electrochemical reactor, wherein all relevant parameters of electrocoagulation process was monitored. The concentration of dye before and after the treatment was measured spectrophotometrically and the results are shown via color removal efficiency, current efficiency, and energy consumption. It was found that the process of electrocoagulation can very effectively carry out the complete removal of the color by using iron and aluminum electrodes whereby greater efficiency have aluminum electrodes.
